Stand down is a military term used when the
firefight or threat is over. At the last welcome
home initiative I realized it could mean something else.
When overwhelmed by combat stress, moral injury
or the haunting memories Of the past, “stand down.” Literally...
That is “kneel down” give the stress, anxiety and fear
to God in the posture of kneeling down, which actually
takes the command to stand down literally!
When you physically stand down you could sit down
or better yet kneel down and pray away the stress and
memories.
Fellow veterans,
“Don’t let your past ruin your present or you future.”
I say again,
“DON’T LET YOUR PAST RUIN YOU PRESENT OR YOUR FUTURE.”
Amen.
