THE STILLNESS ON THE POST a poem

Writer's picture: Fr. NigelFr. Nigel

The stillness on the Post. (Mankind Vs Man-unkind)

I cast my gaze upon the Cross.

I see the fresh wounds and His head hanging limp.

I see the crown, the blood, the pain.

I see the stillness of impending death.

I see the hands clawed in raw pain.

I see the body struggle to raise up for one more breath.

I see the sin of the world upon His shoulders.

I see the nails, three.

I see a tear upon His cheek.

I see the wonder of why.

I hear the echo of "Crucify him, crucify him" floating away...

I see the condemnation.

I see the moment drawing close.

I see the stillness on the post...
