On the 23rd Dec 2009 I was released from the Saratoga, NY Hospital after three months. I had survived the H1N1 swine flu pandemic. Somehow I climbed the three steps from our garage into the house and came home. I confess I was very emotional.
I had lost 68lbs, I was in a coma for three weeks. I had both lungs punched to release water, I had a tracheotomy, I had sepsis, a temp of 104. MRSA, kidney failure, liver failure, and a wicked bed sore that took another three months to heal. On top of that I was sent home without oxygen. A slight oversight...Which after one hour we discovered I need very quickly. It was a terrifying moment that took a couple of hours to rectify.
I shall never forget those friends who came to sing carols outside the window, as I sat in a decliner... I could hardly lift my arm in thanksgiving.
